Coping the NICU Rollercoaster (Tip #1)

Many people ask us day in and day out, “How do you handle all that stress?” Well, we don’t! We just cope with what we are dealt with and try to make it easier.

There are many factors that attribute to our strength and what it takes to get through the journey of having a child in the hospital for such a long time. Here is one tip that can be very helpful in your journey…

Tip #1) WRITE A BLOG

Seriously! You wouldn’t think that writing would be such a blessing, but it is beyond your wild imaginations. One of the hardest things we have had to deal with during our journey was not a certain problem that Kayleigh developed, but the stress that it played on our bodies.

Think about the stress of having to tell your child’s status to family, friends, co-workers, and whoever else asks over and over and over again on the phone. The smooth sailing days when your child is doing good are, but the the hard days are ten times worse. It can do a number on your stress level, so write a blog.

Beyond taking the stress off of you by only writing a blog and not repeating yourself a million times, the comments are beyond therapeautic. To receive prayers and praises from your faithful followers will build you up and help you get through the day. A positive comment can go a long way, but when you are down in the dumps, it can give you enough strength to fuel your body to keep fighting. It is such a blessing to see the world pull together and pray for your child.

Blogs also allow your followers to help you through certain procedures if they have already been down that road. Kayleigh has been through the ringer and has had a lot of procedures, so it was great to learn about so many different opinions to get our own. People will also offer up success stories to give you the strength to make it through your journey with a positive outlook.

Blogging can be a blessing more than you will ever know. Try it! It certainly can’t help and if anything, you will have a long lasting memory of the time you shared with your family.
