Treatment in the dentist office…

So sorry, this week has gotten away from me & I didn’t even realize it was Saturday! So I hope you like this I posted on our Blog Last June…
ok, pet peeve so you may want to skip this post.

It may seem like a tiny, small, insignificant to you but it urked me today. We’ve had a very busy week this week with at least one appointment every day Monday through tomorrow (saturday). But today I took Tristan to the dentist. Tristan always does better with the dentist than I do (i break into a sweat & get nervous because his teeth are a mess…at least I always think they will be <especially because of the grinding>). So we get there early today (bad habit on myself I guess) So they take us back to the chair…our dentist is set up with a island with 4 chairs around it…the island has a sink & supplies there and counter so the assistants can write out whatever he says. So then they bring back this little boy & his sister. He’s (i think he’s about 4-5) as cute as can be and jumps up in the chair and sits there, his sister gets in her chair (she’s older, teen). Then he starts talking to the assistants as she’s getting things ready for the dentists who is doing a procedure in one of the rooms in the back. then he asks if he’s good does he get a suprise. the Assistant says yes, if you are really good you may have 2 surprises…so the dentist comes out looks in his mouth, brushes, florides and he says keep up the good work. he’s done with him, then the dentist goes back to the procedure room for another patient. So little guy is done, the assistant gets the box with the surprises in it and he starts to pick out what he wants. Mean while Tristan is patiently sitting in his chair (laying back a little) i’ve got his hands rubbing them, talking to him. The boy finishes picking out his prizes and then is walking around and talks to his sister. Tristan’s bottom lip came out & he was pouting. It could very well be in my head, but it was like he knew that that little boy got a prize & he was being good so why didn’t i get anything. It broke my heart to see him pout ( i know he doesn’t need or want for anything but even typing this i’m all teared up!)  I work so hard to have him included in what I can, to have him treated as a kid that he is…then this happens. So the dentist comes back out, cleans tristan’s teeth and he has a few cavities we’ll come back for i asked if there were any loose ones i should watch out for, but tristan had a bite on his finger & wasn’t letting go and he said since he couldn’t get his finger out because not any of the teeth moved, he’d say no loose ones yet. ~(The tooth fairy just wants to be ready with what we haven’t determined)~ So we go to check out…nothing, zilch, not even a sticker. Seems petty but it was just another time that they just don’t seem to remember he’s a kid too. I guess cause he can’t say am i getting a prize, he doesn’t realize that he could get one. Ok don’t need a little car or string bracelet but a sticker would have been ok. we have a book that we put them in. So when we got to the elevator on the floor someone had dropped their sticker, I picked it up and pealed it off and plopped it on the headrest of the wheelchair. I wanted so badly to drive to the toy store and buy him something, but the funding just wasn’t there.

It’s time to go again…I never made it back to get the work done as life took over, but this was 6 months ago.
