Thankful for each day

Today, I am thankful for my friends and family, and I am worried.

Yesterday, our dearest family friend fell during a bike ride, broke his leg, and hit his head. He is in the ICU of a local hospital. He is unconscious (the doctors want him that way since he has a breathing tube) and we are all waiting.

I’ll tell you more about Dan and his family later. I know that the phrase “Thankful for each day” has been used so much that it sounds trite, (except to parents of children with special needs) but it is so important to remember.

Tell your family and friends how much you love them. Don’t carry a grudge. Forgive, forgive and forgive, even when your forgiveness is not acknowledged.

And if you hurt some one, remember my favorite Randy Pausch quote:

“I’m sorry. It’s my fault. How do I make it right? ”

Be thankful for each day. Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. Give many hugs, even in the age of swine flue.

You’ll never regret any of it.
