A Friend’s House

Next week I will be heading off to the very glamorous Las Vegas. This is not like me at all. I don’t like to fly, I don’t like to travel, but here I am, heading off to Sin City in the middle of the week. Not to worry, I won’t be getting into any trouble (I hope). I will be attended the largest blog conference of the year–Blog World Expo. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a big blogging nerd and can think of nothing better than to spend three days learning about stuff like “Creating Killer Content” or “Creating Community on Your Blog.” See? Blog nerd.

The thing is, this conference runs from a Wednesday through a Saturday. In the past, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but now Charlie has school and I’ve been fiddling and tweaking and calling on all the grandparents to make sure Charlie is going to be picked up every afternoon the way he should be.

When all the wrangling was done, I found that Charlie will be going home with a friend on Wednesday. Did you hear me? Home with a friend. Those are some sweet words. I wasn’t sure my son would ever have a friend and yet here we are.

As best  I can tell, he’ll be there for about an hour. I’m equally sure that he’s going to be aloof and maybe not as “friendly” as I would like. The other little boy is fabulous and I’m hoping he’ll show Charlie a thing or two about hanging out. This is good for Charlie, though. I can teach him colors and numbers, and letter, but other people? He’ll have to figure that out as he goes.

My little one is growing up so fast.
