Christmas List

I’m not even going to try to convince my teenagers to visit Santa this year. I’m sad about that because I have their pictures with Santa every year since they were born/adopted. And every Christmas I bring them out and display them on the piano. But I learned my lesson last year – the year Ashley, my youngest, very clearly communicated that she was done with visiting Santa.

I published the following Christmas list on my blog last year in December. After reading it, I’m sure you’ll understand why we won’t be getting anywhere near Santa this year…

  • Christmas tree and decorations up – CHECK
  • Christmas cookies made – CHECK
  • Gifts bought and wrapped – CHECK
  • Christmas menu planned – CHECK
  • Take Ashley to see Santa BECAUSE SHE SAID SHE WANTED TO GO – CHECK
  • Pay to repair Santa’s bells which were hurled across the mall and the stitches for the child whose head ‘found’ the hurled bells – CHECK

That’s Amy, Ashley’s aide, smiling like everything is fine, and Ashley, just before she grabbed and hurled the bells. I think I’ve made a wise decision this year, don’t you? (click on the picture for a larger view of the Christmas spirit on Ashley’s face)

Deborah can be found writing here at 5MFSN every Sunday and Wednesday, and can also be found at Pipecleaner Dreams.
