Bringing up seven kids has led to in depth knowledge of asthma, autism, fetal alcohol syndrome and drug induced developmental delay, immune deficiency and autoimmune disease, ectodermal dysplasia, neonatal death and cardiac defect. Despite all of that, I didn't know I was about to start the ride of my life with the illness of my youngest daughter, Ivy.

How Do You Raise Awareness?

Next week, I’ve co – erced my husband to coming with me to donate blood. It’ll be his first time in about twenty years. In Australia, there is very little known about Immune Deficiency and IVIG therapy and I want to put an end to that, at least in our neck of the woods, to…

On Staph and Other Stuff.

Our holiday was lovely but, it seems we have brought home with us our old friend, the staph infection. I’m not sure where it jumped on board (I’m thinking swimming pool) but it is affecting the kids in various ways. Ivy’s ear is discharging the most foul of goop. Eardrop Loathing.

Every few weeks it’s the same. Ivy gets an ear infection and her ears start to discharge. One of the joys of being immune deficient, I guess. Her ear goop grows all sorts of weird and wonderful things, ranging form your stock standard Staph all the way to various spores and fungii. When your body…
